Fashion Week Milan

Fashion Week in Milan brought up a lot of different materials and craftsmanship especially from Italy. According to Style sight the Renaissance was a big inspiration as well as a look of punk with an elegant twist. Nude and neutral hues played a very important role with accents of red, Texture was an important role for accesories interpreted in 70s prints, exotic skins and tailored furs. Retro eyewear was seen, while strappy pumps and lace up booties were seen on the foot.
The Italian Renaissance period influenced a lot of styles such as rich silks, velvets and fur items embellished with gold embroideries and elaborate beading. Stylesight shows bejeweled hair accessories worn in multiples, and bejeweled fur collars. Velvet and satin show feminine inspirations, stylesight mentions that jewel tones brighten up silky satin textures along with elegant navy and rich Bordeaux.

Fashion Week New York

So the latest buzz has been about New York Fashion Week. Everywhere you turn is something about the latest trends seen on the runway, or what designers will be at Fashion Week. Fashion Week in New York is probably one of the busiest times for designers but at the same time the most exciting and thrilling. It is so interesting to see what this years latest trends are and what designers have pulled out of their sleeve for the upcoming seasons.
One thing that has been seen on the runway for this years Fashion Week was white accessories. As seen on style sight, white emerges as a fresh color for a broad range of accessories. Bags footwear and eyewear are all seen in this color. Celine Cruise, Resort 12 and Fall Winter 12 footwear is a driving influence. White eyewear recalls graphic Mod era designs and almost brings you back to the 60s. White bags with black hardware or details is popular as well with black edges or vintage inspired bag frames. Gold hardware on white accessories also has a luxurious appeal.

Studs and Spikes

Spikes have been seen almost everywhere, whether it be on the back of your iPhone case, on the back of your pumps, or on your wrist. Metal hardware is all over the runway typically in the form of studs and spikes. When reading Beauty Riot.com , I learned that Celebrities like Kristen Stewart and Demi Lovato have been seen in this trend for a while now, and even celebrities with a softer style like Diane Kruger have been seen wearing these trends. You don't have to be covered in tattoos with piercings everywhere to wear these trends either. I also learned on Beauty Riot, that Wearing denim with studs makes it more casual, and not as tough, and you can also mix silver and gold studs for a cool effect. Studs and spikes are a good way to toughen up a girlie outfit like a flowy floral shirt, or garments with neutral girlie colors. This summer, jean shorts were taken to another level with studs. A popular look was to cover your jean short pockets in with medal hardware and do certain designs like crosses or skulls.

Not only can you find studded and spiked garments in stores but it has become a huge trend to "do it yourself" (DIY). Using old jeans, or garments and covering them with studs or spikes has become the new thing to do. You can find studded items on a website called Etsy, where you can buy and sell handmade items. Nothings better then taking an old pair of your mothers Levis or a pair of old boring shoes and creating your own look by covering them in medal hardware. These days saving money is something everyone is thinking about and by making your own accessories and clothing is the best way to do this. You may think that this trend is only seen in the younger crowd but anyone can wear this trend if it is worn properly. If you ever have a piece of clothing that you may be ready to throw out, or out of style just add some metal hardware to it and your all set. If you ever want to make a statement, just add this trend to your wardrobe! This trend has not only been popular for Spring and Summer but has been seen for the Fall as well. It is the perfect way to dress up any Fall outfit with a pair of leggings and spike pumps, or boots.
